Location

In Southwest France, between Toulouse, Carcassonne and the Pyrenees, not far from Andorra and the Mediterranean coast, Foix enjoys a mild and sunny climate.

	Valorme is located in Foix, Ariège-Pyrénées, at the foot of the castle. Visits

3 visits per week, chosen by the group, are included in the program and prepared in the class.
Go with your teacher to discover l'Ariège and practise your language with local French people.

Prehistory :Niaux cave : guided visit in one of the most famous caves with Magdalenian paintings.

And a lso the Prehistory Park, the Bedeillac, Mas d'Azil and La Vache caves, all of great interest to understand life and art of this period.

History :Montsegur Castle, a symbol of Cathar resistance and a wonderful hiking trip.

History and Archaeology Museum in the village.

And also the Pyrene Forges, a museum of professions and tools from the past; the Castle of the Counts of Foix…

Architecture :The (« bastide ») of Mirepoix, a medieval fortified town with half-timbered houses over timber arcades. Stop over at the amazing Rupestrian Church of Vals, set into a rock.

And also various Romanesque churches, medieval villages, Fiches castle with a bestiary dating from the 16 th century…

Nature : Hiking in the mountains. Easy walks (one to three hours) but very picturesque views of the Pyrenean peaks.

And also skiing and snowshoeing in winter, swimming in lakes, a spa resort, a lovely Bamboo Park…

Animals : the Eagles of Lordat Castle, the Wolf Park, the Bee Barn…

Gastronomy : Discover the Pyrenees farmhouse cheeses, Foie gras, charcuterie, honey, « croustades »…in the Friday Market or enjoy a wine tasting at vignerons d'Ariège cellar.
